Naver Brand Search is a fixed-fee placement that puts a controlled, image-rich panel at the top of Naver’s results when Korean users search your brand name. You buy it for a set period rather than per click, Naver approves every keyword through a review, and the price scales with your own branded search volume. The spend earns its place once Koreans are already looking for you by name.
That last condition is the one foreign executives get wrong. Naver held 64.28 percent of the Korean search market in the first half of 2026, per InternetTrend data reported by the Asia Business Daily in July 2026, so branded demand lands on Naver whether or not you have built anything there. What sits underneath your name is decided by the organic ecosystem covered in the Naver SEO guide for foreign brands. Brand Search rents the first screen for a fixed period. The results below it stay wherever the algorithm puts them.
Inquivix covers the formats and account mechanics in its Naver advertising guide and Naver PPC advertising guide. This piece takes the decisions above them: whether your branded demand justifies a booking, and which levers move the fee.
What Does Naver Brand Search Buy You?
It buys the top of the results page for queries containing your brand name, for a fixed period at a fixed price, with no auction.
Naver consolidated the catalogue in 2026, and Electronic Times reported the reorganized set of 7 templates opening for purchase on 1 June 2026. The range runs from light templates carrying a logo, a tagline, and up to four sublinks, through multimedia and premium treatments built around a large image or auto-playing video with up to ten links, per InterAd’s September 2025 guide, to an ambassador format below a celebrity profile.
Buy the mobile template first. Korean branded search sits overwhelmingly on the phone, as the Naver SEO guide above notes, and PC earns its own template only when your buyers are desktop B2B researchers. Point most sublinks at Naver-native properties, the official Naver Blog, the Smart Store, and the Naver Place listing, because they render Korean-native and load fast. Reserve one slot for the corporate site.
The money stops at the panel. Below it, Naver’s results resolve into the Smart Block structure set out in the Naver Smart Blocks guide, where blog posts, Cafe threads, Knowledge iN answers, and Shopping listings appear in whatever order the algorithm chooses.
When Is Naver Brand Search Worth the Spend?
Three conditions have to hold at once: Korean users are already searching your name, what they currently find is thin or working against you, and you have a Korean destination worth sending them to.
Claim the free branded surfaces first. A verified official Naver Blog, a Naver Place listing, and a brand store inside Naver Shopping all appear on branded queries at no media cost, and Naver’s keyword review weighs that kind of presence. Paying for a panel above a screen you could have partly taken for nothing is the commonest sequencing error.
The first condition is the gate. The price is set from your keywords’ preceding 30-day query volume, so a brand nobody searches for in Korea falls into the cheapest bracket, which makes an early booking look attractively cheap. It is also close to worthless, because the panel only renders when somebody types the name. Sixshop’s product documentation is explicit that low query volume earns no compensation and high query volume costs no extra.
The second condition is where the real case sits. Foreign brands entering Korea routinely find their branded results populated by Smart Store resellers they never appointed, Coupang listings priced below their own, and a Cafe thread about warranty service. How those marketplaces behave is covered in the guide to Korean ecommerce on Coupang and Naver. The panel sits above all of it while the organic assets are built.
The third condition is the destination. A sublink into an English or machine-translated page wastes a click that arrived with more intent than any category search, which is the argument for the Naver-native routing above. The same discipline applied to auction traffic is worked through in the Naver Powerlink cost and access guide.
Timing follows. Bookings run 7 to 90 days and the start date can be reserved up to 60 days ahead, per Sixshop’s setup documentation, so the natural pattern wraps a booking around a launch, a trade show, or a distribution announcement. Book backwards from that date, because review confirms the keyword set before the contract is signed.
Who Is Eligible to Buy Naver Brand Search?
Brands that can document ownership of the name and already show some presence on Naver. Approval is not automatic: Sixshop’s product documentation states that the final set of purchasable keywords is decided by Naver’s review rather than by the advertiser, and InterAd’s September 2025 guide lists what brand verification accepts as proof, meaning trademarks, the official website, or business registration documents.
Two failure modes catch foreign companies, and most executives have the first backwards. Trademark documentation is one accepted proof of identity at verification. Whether a given keyword can be bought is settled separately, on demonstrated search intent: Naver told the Korean advertising outlet OpenAds in July 2022 that Brand Search keywords are unrelated to trademark ownership, and that a common-noun term is refused unless it distinctly represents one brand with real search intent behind it.
The second is a naming collision: your brand transliterated into hangul may already belong to an unrelated Korean business. Naver’s rule is that the brand with clearly higher search intent may advertise, and where the two are comparable neither is approved.
Every Naver search ad account is keyed to a Korean business registration number, so a company without a Korean entity buys through an agency of record, a local individual’s account, or Naver’s overseas path, per digital marketing in Korea.

How Is Naver Brand Search Priced?
By a flat fee calculated from three inputs: the template type, the combined query volume of the selected keywords over the preceding 30 days, and the length of the booking.
Admarketip’s Korean cost breakdown of 16 July 2026 puts base rates from 500,000 KRW excluding VAT, and Sixshop’s product page puts the ceiling at 6,800,000 KRW, quoted against 30 days and prorated outside that. The brackets are wide: the PC light template sits at 500,000 KRW for 0 to 8,000 queries and 2,000,000 KRW at the 22,101 to 29,100 bracket.
The 12-product and 45-template counts still quoted in English and Korean guides predate the 7-template set above. Korean agency notices carry a purchase discount running through 30 September 2026, with the standard table applying after it, so bring bookings forward into September.
The most useful lever sits in the keyword list. A contract holds up to 30 keywords, and Naver sums the preceding 30 days of query volume across every keyword you register to set the bracket, per Sixshop’s documentation, so filling all 30 slots raises the fee. Register the terms your buyers actually type, the Korean transliteration, the English name, and the misspellings that carry real volume.
One correction to the tactical guides, including Inquivix’s own. The Naver advertising guide says the Brand Search minimum is 500,000 KRW “but the actual cost will depend on how often users click on your ad,” and the Naver PPC advertising guide describes that minimum as covering up to 8,000 impressions. Clicks do not change a flat fee, and 8,000 is the top of the lowest query-volume bracket. Pull your own quote from Naver Search Ads before committing a number to a plan.
Brand Search is a predictable line item where Powerlink is a variable one, and it belongs in the budget beside sponsorships and event spend.
Can Competitors Buy Your Brand Name on Naver?
The panel is exclusive for the booked term, and Naver separately restricts competitors from registering another company’s brand keyword in the same industry, which changes the defensive arithmetic that applies on Google.
East Fort Ego’s 2026 technical guide states that there is no bidding war for Brand Search and competitors cannot buy your brand space. For the auction products, the Korean advertising outlet OpenAds documented Naver’s rule in August 2021: competitors are prohibited from registering another company’s brand-name keyword within the same industry, with clothing, fashion accessories, and underwear as the exceptions. Ads sometimes clear review anyway, and the remedy is a scrub request through Naver’s inappropriate-ad reporting channel.
InterAd’s September 2025 guide reads as a contradiction and describes something else: competitors and resellers appearing above your listing when you run no brand ad, which is the organic and marketplace mix that fills a branded page. Buy Brand Search for control of the panel and the quality of the first impression rather than as insurance against a rival taking your name. A brand in one of the excepted apparel categories reads that differently.
How Does Naver Brand Search Fit Your Organic Naver Assets?
Brand Search occupies the first screen while your Naver Blog, Cafe presence, Knowledge iN answers, Naver Place listing, and news coverage decide what a Korean buyer concludes after the click.
Sequence matters. In the first two quarters the panel carries the load, because a new Naver Blog needs sustained Korean publishing before it ranks competitively. By the third or fourth quarter your own assets should appear directly under it, at which point the same booking does more work. Brands that neglect the ecosystem below pay every year to sit above a page they would rather nobody read.
Measure it accordingly. Track your brand term month over month in the search term trend inside Naver DataLab, free at datalab.naver.com and the instrument that answers whether branded query volume in Korea is rising. Watch whether your own properties gain position in the blocks below the panel. A flat DataLab curve puts the problem upstream in awareness work.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Naver Brand Search cost? Base rates start at 500,000 KRW excluding VAT per Admarketip’s 16 July 2026 breakdown and reach roughly 6,800,000 KRW for the heaviest mobile templates. Three inputs set the fee: the template type, the combined 30-day query volume of every keyword you register, and a booking of 7 to 90 days quoted against a 30-day base.
Is Naver Brand Search pay-per-click? No. It is a flat-fee, fixed-term booking with no auction, which is why the price is known before the campaign runs and why unused exposure earns no refund. Sixshop’s product documentation states that Naver charges no more if query volume exceeds expectation and pays no compensation if it falls short. Powerlink is the auction-based product on Naver.
How far ahead should we book Naver Brand Search for a launch? Naver lets you reserve a start date up to 60 days ahead, per Sixshop’s setup documentation, and review confirms the purchasable keyword set before the contract is signed. Korean practitioners on the Comento advertising forum put creative review at half a day to a day in 2022, with a 17:00 KST cutoff for same-day clearance. Start four to six weeks out.
Does owning the Korean trademark guarantee we can buy our brand keyword? No. Trademark documentation is one of the proofs Naver accepts when verifying that you own or represent the brand. Purchasability is settled separately, on demonstrated search intent. Naver told the Korean outlet OpenAds in July 2022 that Brand Search keywords are unrelated to trademark ownership, so a Korean name your buyers do not yet type can be declined.
Getting Started
The decision is smaller than it looks. Either Koreans are typing your name in enough volume to make a rented first screen worth renting, or the budget belongs upstream in the work that creates those queries. Inquivix handles the Korean side for international brands: verification, keyword submission, creative, and the organic properties the panel sits above.
